Die Publikation ist eine Dokumentation des Lebens in dem kleinen Dorf Röcken in Sachsen-Anhalt. Es steht für Kohleabbau, aber auch als Geburtsort von Friedrich Nietzsche. Es zeigt
die Veränderungen des Dorfes durch die DDR, die Wende und Landflucht und thematisiert Zusammenhalt, Dorfidylle, Sehnsüchte nach Ursprünglichkeit und geistiger Herkunft.
Über ein Jahr wurde das Dorf fotografiert und Interviews mit Dorfbewohnern, sowie internationalen Gästen geführt. Außerdem werden Auszüge aus Gästebüchern der Nietzsche-Gedenkstätte der letzten 20 Jahre sowie Zitate aus Friedrich Nietzsches
Werken präsentiert.

This publication documents life in the small village of Röcken in Saxony-Anhalt. The village is known for coal mining, but it is also the birthplace of Friedrich Nietzsche. It illustrates
the changes the village underwent during the GDR era, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and rural exodus, and explores themes of community, village idyll, a longing for authenticity, and intellectual heritage.
For over a year, the village was photographed, and interviews were conducted with villagers and international guests. The book also features excerpts from the guestbooks of the Nietzsche Memorial over the past 20 years, as well as quotations from Friedrich Nietzsche’s
works.
